Josh Wise and David Reutimann finished 23rd and 31st respectively in the Hefty Odor Lock 200, today's Nationwide race at Phoenix International Raceway.
The call to start engines came at 4:39pm ET. Josh's #00 Napa Auto Parts Camry rolled off the grid 10th; David's #99 Best Western Toyota was 26th. Denny Hamlin led the field to the green flag at 4:46pm. Josh picked up 9th, and David picked up 23rd one lap into the race. While Josh fell to 10th the next time around the track, David moved into 22nd. The #99 passed Bryan Clausson and Bobby Hamilton Jr for 20th on lap 4. Josh was 11th. On lap 6, David passed Justin Allgaier for 19th. Joey Logano passed Josh on lap 8, putting the #00 back to 12th. Meanwhile, Danny O'Quinn went to the garage. Kertus Davis followed suit.
David was 18th on lap 9, having passed Mike Wallace. Josh was 13th one lap later; Scott Wimmer got around his #00. Terry Cook went to the garage next. Lap 13 saw David pass Kenny Wallace for 17th. He picked up 16th from Brad Keselowski on lap 17 and 15th from Kelly Bires on lap 19. David gained 14th from Steve Wallace just as the yellow flag waved.
The first caution was on lap 24 for debris. Stanton Barrett received the free pass back onto the lead lap. Justin Hobgood was in the garage by this point. Drivers pit under yellow. Mike Bliss was the first driver off pit road, having taken just two tires, and Hamlin stalled leaving his box. Burney Lamar led under caution. Joey Logano had to pit again to have his fender pulled following contact.
Lap 29 saw the restart. Bliss led, but Hamlin immediately dropped inside and challenged for the lead. David was 11th, and Josh was 12th. Josh lost a spot two laps into the run. David lost a spot on lap 38, dropped off the pace, and was sparking.
The second caution was on lap 39 for David. He was outside Keselowski's #88 when he hit the wall and lost a tire. He went to pit road. The crew struggled to get a jack under the car. Meanwhile, Marc Davis received the free pass.
Hamlin led the lap 45 restart. Josh was 12th, and David was two laps down in 38th.
The yellow flag waved again on lap 47; Justin Allgaier and Brian Ickler had wrecked. John Wes Townley had caused it. David was now four laps down.
Racing resumed on lap 53 with Hamlin leading, Josh in 11th, and David four laps down in 39th. By lap 56, David was up to 38th, having passed Scott Gaylord.
Townley spun and hit the wall after getting loose on his own, bringing out the fourth caution on lap 65. AJ Allmendinger stayed on track to lead. Hamlin came off pit road first but had to return to his box for a tire mistake; the team had put on sticker tires that they had wanted to save for later. David picked up 37th due to Townley's misfortunes.
Allmendinger led the restart on lap 71. Josh was 13th, and David was four laps down in 37th. Josh lost a spot one lap into the run; however, he regained it a circuit later. David picked up 36th when Lamar went to pit road.
Ickler rear-ended the wall, drawing the fifth caution on lap 75. Kevin Harvick was now in the lead. David got the free pass; he was now three laps down.
A huge wreck took place on the lap 79 restart. Brad Keselowski and David Ragan hadn't gone when others had; the flag man was throwing the green flag before Harvick restarted. Point leader Clint Bowyer sustained significant damage to the nose of his #2. Marc Davis and Steve Wallace were also collected. Josh managed to dodge it. Wallace was held a lap for pulling up to pit. David received the free pass; he was now two laps down.
Racing resumed on lap 85, and another wreck broke for the same reason. The race remained under green. David Stremme had a flat, and with the debris, the yellow flag waved.
The seventh caution was on lap 86 for another jam-up. Keselowski again was on the brakes. Harvick stated the reason was because spotters were saying green green green before cars were getting going. Josh was involved in this wreck, as was Jason Leffler. Allmendinger got the free pass.
Harvick led the restart on lap 89. Josh was 31st, the last driver on the lead lap. David was two laps down in 33rd. Josh was 29th by lap 95. On lap 100, Josh was 27th. David picked up 32nd on lap 141. On lap 157, he went a fourth lap down. Josh went a second lap down by lap 183 and picked up 23rd two circuits later when Keselowski pit with a flat.
The ninth caution was on lap 196 for Marcos Ambrose; he blew a tire. Four lead lap cars stayed on track, and everyone else pit. The field prepared for a green/white/checkered finish.
Edwards led the restart. Josh was 23rd, and David was 32nd. Joey Logano spun at the end of the race, and Edwards went on to win. Josh was 23rd, one lap down. David finished four laps down in 31st.
