Lenox Industrial Tools 301 - 6/28/09

Rain shortened the Lenox Industrial Tools 301, this afternoon's Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The race ended under the red flag on lap 273 with David Reutimann in 4th and Marcos Ambrose in 23rd. Michael Waltrip had been running 2nd shortly before the caution for rain when he had to pit. The very frustrated driver of the #55 Napa Auto Parts Camry had words, which he quickly retracted.

Qualifying was washed out on Friday, so the field was set according to owners points. Mikey started 29th, David 14th, and Marcos 18th.

"How 'bout it?" crew chief Bootie Barker was the first on the #55 radio at 2:06pm ET. "Billy? I hear an echo, hearing myself talking."

The radio had a lot of little clicking sounds.

"All right, Bootie, you have a copy?" spotter Ty Norris asked.

"Yeah, man, you're good," Bootie replied.

"M Dub, are you buttoned up yet?"

"Almost, Ty," Bootie told him.

"Okay."

The call to start engines came at 2:08pm ET.

"1, 2. Hello?" Mikey came on the radio seconds later.

"I gotcha," Bootie replied.

"Roger."

"I hear you fine," Ty said. "How bout me."

"You're good," Mikey replied.

"10-4."

"Okay, Michael, we got our brake fans and our rear brake fans," Bootie told his driver. He said they'd use 5300 RPM in second gear for their pit road speed.

"Gotcha," Mikey replied.

After a long pause, Bootie said, "Competition caution at 35, Ty."

"Yeah, 10-4," Ty responded.

"Am I 27th or 28th?" Mikey asked.

"We're 29th in the points," Bootie answered, "but somebody you think has to go behind us?"

"Okay, nevermind. I was just wondering odd or even."

"I think odd. I'll let you know if it's something different."

"All right, buddy, it's going to be one to go when you get around here," said Ty. "One to go."

"Hello, 2, 1," Bootie noted where the #55's pit box was.

Ty pointed out the #43 and #29 were around the stall.

Points leader Tony Stewart led the field to the green flag at 2:16pm.

"All right, bud, pace car's off. Ready? Green green green," said Ty. "Everybody's rolling. Still outside, still outside. Still all the way outside, outside. Still right there on your quarter, outside. Clear now, clear half back. Outside 12. Still there. Clear there, all clear. Clear clear. One back."

"31.16," Bootie noted the lap time.

By lap 3, Mikey was 31st. David was 13th, and Marcos was 19th. Meanwhile, Jeff Gordon had taken the lead on the first lap.

"Clear two back, no pressure. Looking inside, inside. The 09. Still there on your door. Still down there, still there. Clear now, half back. Three back. Nice job!"

On lap 6, David moved up to 11th. Marcos was 20th, and Mikey was 31st.

"30.83."

Lap 7 saw Kurt Busch take the lead.

"Just tire smoke. You're good. Clear three back."

"30.90."

"Clear one back to the 09. It will be clear clear."

"30.90."

"Got a run. At your bumper. At your bumper, inside. Still right there, right on you. To your door. Nice run. You're clear half back now."

"30.78."

"Two back."

"93."

"Still out there. Still there. Still there. Still there. Still out there on your door. Still there. Clear there half back, half back."

On lap 13, David was 10th. Marcos was 22nd, and Mikey remained 31st.

"I don't have any forward bite," Mikey reported.

"Okay, 10-4. 10-4 on the forward bite. Paul," Bootie responded. "30.87.

"30.43. Caution."

"Right behind you."

The first caution was on lap 17 when Patrick Carpentier ran into the corner too deep and hit the wall.

"Okay, Michael, you said right now you need some forward bite, is that right?" Bootie asked.

"Yeah." Static followed.

"Okay, Paul's talking over you. We'll get four right now and fuel on the competition caution." Bootie said something about knowing this would be an issue.

"Yeah."

"Okay, guys, we're going to come. We're going to come right now. We're going to get four with rear air, then for the competition caution, we'll just get some gas."

"What if everybody does that?"

"Nobody's coming in right now."

Mikey was guided to his box.

"53, 53. All the way all the way. All right, you're still clear."

"5300, 5300. 5300, Michael," Ty said.

"I was in the wrong gear. I was speeding. I got in the wrong gear," Mikey said.

"Okay, we'll just see what happens here."

"They're going to say you were speeding."

"Yeah." Ty laughed.

"The bonus part is that there weren't many people behind me." Mikey said they only lost one spot for the adjustment and his crew had done a good job.

Bootie said they'd go to the tail end.

"They didn't say it yet," Ty said. "Come on come on."

"Yeah they did," Bootie replied. "Come on."

Mikey said Bootie had already said it, and Bootie confirmed.

"All right, pace car's off. Be ready. Green green green. Keep rolling, keep rolling."

Lap 21 saw the restart with Kurt Busch leading. Mikey was 40th, David 10th, and Marcos 27th. Jeff Gordon took the lead immediately.

"Clear three back. No pressure. Clear there, clear. You've got the 7 car three-wide there in the middle. Stay where you are, where you are. Caution's out."

The second caution was on lap 22 when Jamie McMurray spun out. Kevin Harvick had slid up the track in Turn 4, causing it. Harvick apologised, saying he got too loose in the corner.

"Okay, Michael, we're working lap 21 right now. We have a few more laps of caution," said Bootie.

"Okay," Mikey replied. "Hey, Ty, on those pit stops, I got to be smart enough to read my list here."

Gordon led the lap 26 restart. Mikey was 35th, David 9th, and Marcos 26th. One lap into the run, AJ Allmendinger spun out.

The third caution was on lap 28 for Allmendinger. Mikey was 36th, David 9th, Marcos 23rd. Track Pass is making a clicking sound and is not broadcasting Mikey's radio. Jamie McMurray received the free pass.

Mikey said something about the #24 pitting.

"They're probably going to try to do something like we're going to do, I guess," Bootie replied.

Mikey agreed. His radio broke up after that.

"Yeah, we only have four green flag laps on our tires, so that's going to be nice."

"We might ought to stay out."

Bootie said they might go green for a while, so they should just get fuel.

"All right, coming around. You're going to be coming to the green, coming to the green," Ty said.

Jeff Gordon led the restart on lap 32. Kurt Busch took the lead almost immediately. Mikey was 33rd, David 9th, and Marcos 21st. Meanwhile, Dave Blaney went to the garage.

"Pace car's off. Ready? Green green green. Everybody's rolling. Still outside, outside. Outside, the 11. Still there, still there. 78. Outside outside outside. Two, two back. Still out there, still there. Still out there. 34. Keep her coming."

On lap 33, Mikey was 34th. David was 10th and Marcos was 22nd.

"Still outside on your corner. Still there. Still there."

Mikey was 31st on lap 26. Lap 40 saw him take 30th. On lap 46, he was 29th. David was 8th, and Marcos was 22nd.

The competition caution drew the fourth yellow flag on lap 47. Mikey's radio again was not working on Track Pass. Cars made stops. Elliott Sadler David Gilliland stayed out to each lead.

Gordon led the restart on lap 50. Jimmie Johnson took the lead almost immediately. Mikey was 27th, David 23rd, and Marcos 19th. Four laps into the run, Greg Biffle got into the wall hard but continued. Mikey was now 28th. Jamie McMurray and Tony Raines were in the garage. On lap 58, Mikey was 29th.

"Still down there. Still there," Ty said. "82 car, looking on the bottom. Inside, inside. Clear now, clear. Half back now to the ___"

Bootie gave lap times, but it was covered by static.

"Inside, inside." More static.

"Okay, what do we have, Ty?"

Mikey asked what happened, and it sounds like Ty said Scott Speed wrecked into him.

The caution was out on lap 61 for the fourth time. Mikey said something about something being crooked but up. The Track Pass radio was breaking up.

Mikey pit.

"It might be up, damn it!" Mikey said.

Bootie told him all right and guided him into his box.

People had checked up, and Speed turned Mikey. Paul Menard rear-ended Speed in turn, and Robby Gordon was also collected. Mikey hit the wall.

It sounded like the #55 team was going to pit again.

Johnson led the restart on lap 64. Mikey was 36th, David 14th, and Marcos 30th.

"Clear, whatever you want. All clear, all clear. Stacking up in front of you. Clear behind the 7 if you need it. You're clear there."

AJ Allmendinger went to the garage.

"Still there inside, still there. One real slow right up against the wall. The 34. He's rolling. Clear low. That 34's still on the high side. Clear up, whatever you want. All clear, all clear. Clear low if you need it. Inside, the 7."

On lap 67, Mikey was 35th. David was 11th, and Marcos was 24th.

"Outside, outside. Still there."

Lap 71 saw Mikey back to 36th.

"30.93."

Ty said something about someone still being there. "Still there on your corner, 7 on your corner. Clear now, clear. Inside, inside."

Mikey was 35th on lap 75, having passed Robby Gordon. One lap later, Gordon got around him again.

"30.93.

"30.98."

TNT reported that David had complained that his car was loose initially but was happy with his car now.

"Still there. Still there. Clear, clear."

On lap 89, Mikey was 35th. David was 9th, and Marcos was 26th. He'd passed John Andretti. He complained that he was loose off, but the rest was lost in the poor reception.

"87."

More communication transpired between Mikey and Bootie.

"84."

On lap 96, Mikey was 34th. He had passed Regan Smith.

"Inside, inside. Clear there behind him, two back."

By lap 106, Mikey lost the lead lap.

"Inside, inside. Trying to go with him. Inside. All clear."

"31.12."

"Still there, still there, still inside. Clear clear.

"88 right on your bumper. Inside, inside. Clear behind him. Inside, inside. Clear two back, two back."

On lap 119, Martin Truex Jr made a scheduled stop.

"Inside, 00."

"31.30."

Matt Kenseth made his scheduled stop on lap 120. Others were also coming to pit road. Mikey was up to 33rd and up to 31st two laps later.

"5300," Ty reminded. He said something else that wasn't understood.

Bootie guided Mikey to his box.

Jeff Gordon led lap 124, and Juan Pablo Montoya led next. Mikey was 35th, two laps down. David was 22nd and lapped and Marcos 11th.

"Clear back to the 16."

On lap 128, Mikey was 36th. David was 18th, and Marcos was 30th. Montoya pit on lap 130, giving the lead to Denny Hamlin. Hamlin made his stop one lap later. Reed Sorenson led a lap before also pitting. Robby Gordon was now in the top spot. When he pit, the lead when back to Jimmie Johson on lap 134. Mikey was now one lap down rather than two.

"30.62.

"30.46.

"30.90."

"One back to the 07. One back. Inside inside. Clear three back to the 11. He's right there, inside.

"One back to the 24. Inside, inside."

By lap 150, Mikey went a second lap down. He was 36th, David 10th, and Marcos one lap down in 26th.

"I'm about to get real real real loose," Mikey said.

Bootie acknowledged this.

"Caution's out, caution's out for debris."

The sixth caution was on lap 153. Ryan Newman got the free pass.

Bootie said they'd work on the quarter panel. They discussed using wave-around but decided to maybe save that for later.

Cars pit under yellow. Jeff Gordon was the first off pit road, and a crew member was hit.

Bootie decided to take the wave-around and not to pit. "Cautions breed cautions."

"It's raining for the first time off of 3. First rain drops," Mikey said.

"10-4. I see it over here too."

Mikey asked if somebody had stayed out and was told no. They both talked about being shocked.

Mikey said something about seeing what might happen if they stay out. The team spoke more, but it was covered in static.

Ten cars got the wave-around.

Ty warned Mikey about another truck in Turns 3 and 4. "All right, bud. Coming to the green. Be ready. Green green green. Everybody's rolling."

Gordon led the lap 159 restart. Mikey was one lap down in 36th, David 10th, and Marcos 25th.

"Inside, inside. Still outside, outside. Outside outside. You got one more, the 34. You're going to be clear there."

"It's raining in 3," Mikey reported.

Ty warned Mikey about the #98 on his corner and sounded like he said something about smoke.

"31.15."

"My guess is that 19 is going to be the next caution. He and Marcos have been mixing it up here. Be ready," Ty said.

"18."

"One back to that 44. Car in the wall in 3 and 4, car in the wall in 3 and 4. Caution's out."

The seventh caution was on lap 171. Mikey was now 35th. Paul Menard had hit the wall in Turn 3 after smoking quite a bit. Joey Logano received the free pass.

"All right!" Bootie asked about the car.

"It's just skaty. I don't have any grip. It's not tight or loose right there, just skaty."

"All right, 10-4."

Mikey asked to compare to other teams.

Bootie said at least they'd get to work on the sheet metal damage now.

"Uh, we might be the only car one lap down now," Ty said.

"No, I'm looking, it's the 20 and the 12 as well."

"20 just free passed, so now it's just the 12," Mikey said.

The #55 pit under yellow.

"Clean the grill, Chris," Bootie said.

The hood went up on the #98.

Bootie talked about removing something that would take his ass out of the track. Ty told Mikey to go around the 20 as he should be all the way in the back as the free pass car.

"Beat the 12 for the lucky dog, brother," Ty advised.

Gordon led the restart on lap 175.

"Ready? Green green green. Everybody's rolling. Everybody's rolling. Right in front of you, right in front of you. You've got to stay down. Stop if you can. Sweep down."

"I hit the 09 in the back. I don't know what I've done."

"Okay, 10-4. All right, let's look at it."

Ty didn't think Mikey hit anything hard.

The eighth caution was on lap 176. Dale Earnhardt Jr may have missed a shift as he took a while getting going. Martin Truex Jr got rear-ended behind him by Kyle Busch, and many cars were collected. David got spun. Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, Brian Vickers, David Ragan, Kevin Harvick, Casey Mears, and Kasey Kahne were among those collected. Truex pretended to throw his helmet at Kyle Busch when the #18 came by on the track.

"I haven't heard them say. I guess the 12 got the dog," Ty said.

They were unsure, so they said they'd ask.

"Okay, they're going to stop you."

The race was red flagged at 4:08pm.

"Okay, they said the 12 is going to have the dog."

"10-4. We're going to have it though. We'll get all the damage fixed, get your car back up there," Bootie said. When Mikey asked, he talked about all the repairs they'd already made.

"Hey, Ty."

"Yeah, man."

Mikey talked about the wave around and didn't get why some weren't waved around. He said something about not leaking water.

Bootie said there was water leaking from a little hole, but it wasn't bad.

Mikey asked what happened. Ty and Bootie's responses were incredibly choppy with Track Pass. Mikey said something about someone trying to give someone else some room.

Ty asked if the #00 had any damage.

Mikey saw a little something on the quarter panel but said it was fine. "What were you worried about?"

Ty said David had spun. "They thought they had a little right rear damage."

Mikey said something about the wing.

Ty said they were going to pit anyway.

"Want me to come right to you since we're going to be in the back anyway?" Mikey asked.

"Sure, why not," Bootie replied.

Mikey pit as soon as engines refired at 4:22pm. Bootie told Mikey to get caught up before coming back in.

"I slowed down so much, this 07 just about run over me. I don't know what I could have done," Mikey said.

"That's what I'm telling him," Ty replied.

"5300, 5300 and second gear," Bootie reminded Mikey. He said they'd get fuel and barribond. "Rock and roll. I see you, Michael. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2."

Bootie let Mikey go when the pace car was in the middle of Turns 3 and 4. "It's fixed about as good as it could be." He said they should be the lucky dog as they were the only ones a lap down. "Yeah, 10-4, Michael, you are the lucky dog - the only one one lap down."

Gordon led the restart on lap 181. Mikey was 30th and lapped, David 21st, and Marcos 23rd.

"Outside, outside. Outside outside. In front of you. Stay low stay low stay low. You're clear. No caution, keep coming."

Ryan Newman had hit the wall.

"Clear clear, whatever you need."

Kurt Busch bumped Jeff Gordon's quarter panel, fighting him for the lead.

"Still there, still there. The 20 wrecked in front of you. No caution. Still clear still clear. Oh, he spun out. No caution. Caution's out. There we go. Caution's out."

"Very nice, very nice," Bootie reacted.

The ninth caution was on lap 183. Joey Logano had gone to pit road after his spin. Mikey got the free pass.

"Michael, after you take the wave around and everything for the lucky dog, we'll just get that barribond off."

A crew guy said they'd take a razor blade and cut it off.

Bootie asked about temperatures.

"Yeah, the car felt pretty good for two laps compared to how it felt. It might have actually gained some downforce. I just know I was slipping everywhere and it was lack of downforce."

Bootie said they'd get four tires in case they ran over to avoid "something stupid."

Mikey considered staying out because of the rain. Bootie said he felt the mist too but it had been doing that. The #55 pit.

"All right, it's going to be one to go when you go away. The 20 and the 07 are going to be back there with you, and somebody else had a penalty also," Ty noted.

Gordon led the lap 188 restart. Mikey was 27th, David 21st, and Marcos 22nd.

"On the bottom, still there. 34 still there still there. Clear clear. Trying to look low. You're clear, clear."

Front runners were bouncing off each other.

"Still there, still there. Outside outside. Now you're clear again, clear."

Mikey was up to 26th one lap into the run.

The tenth caution was on lap 190. Scott Speed had spun out. Mikey was 25th when caution came out.

"Stay down stay down stay down. No caution's out. Caution's out."

"Oh, man, this is going to be some good luck, Michael."

"I'm just glad I get to be a part of it."

"Us too. Good work today everybody, so far. We'll just keep going. See what happens. We're going to stay out."

"One to go, one to go," said Ty.

Gordon led the lap 196 restart. Mikey was 23rd, David 27th, and Marcos 19th.

"Okay, pace car's off. Rolling. Green green green. Backing up. Come on down. There you go. Still outside on the top. 39 still there. Get behind him if you need it. Clear up behind him if you need it, still clear up. Clear clear, all clear. One back to the 78 up top. Clear two back."

Lap 197 saw Tony Stewart take the lead. Mikey was 22nd.

"78's going to have a run on the bottom. Inside. Still there inside, to your door. Still down there, still there. Clear there, clear."

"30.80."

"Got a run inside, inside. The 09, inside. Still down there at your door, still there. Clear clear. Still clear one back."

"30.59."

"Still there outside. One up there with him. It's the 00. Outside outside. Outside. Clear there half back, 09. Still clear clear clear."

"30.90."

"It's loose," Mikey reported.

"10-4. 10-4 on the loose," Bootie replied. "30.78."

On lap 204, David got around Mikey. The #55 was 23rd, the #00 22nd, and the #47 20th.

"30.87.

"30.68."

"Driving away, man. Nice job!" Ty praised.

"30.80.

"30.78.

"30.90.

"30.93."

"Still outside. Still there. Clear up there, two back. Still outside. Still there, still there, still there. We'll get him up here. Still out there on your corner. Still there, still there. He's going to be there off the corner. Clear there, clear. Nice job!"

On lap 212, David was up to 21st. Marcos was 19th, and Mikey continued in 23rd. One lap later, the #55 had gained 22nd from Elliott Sadler.

"96."

"7's on your bumper. Still clear."

"93."

"Still look inside... there you go. You're clear, all clear. Still outside, outside. Still outside on your corner. Still there still there still there. Clear now, clear."

"96."

On lap 218, Mikey was 21st, and David was 20th. Marcos was 18th.

"75. Good job.

"65."

Carl Edwards made a stop on lap 221; he had loose wheel.

"77.

"78."

On lap 222, Mikey was 20th, David 19th, Marcos 17th.

"90.

"90."

"Three back to the 7."

"87.

"91.

"87.

"78."

"Clear, all clear."

"87.

"77.

"64. Good lap.

"78."

Kyle Busch pit on lap 234 for his last stop.

"93.

"81."

Tony Stewart led a number of cars to pit road on lap 235.

"About five guys are on pit road. Watch out for them," Bootie told his driver.

Mikey asked if they should just get two tires, and Bootie agreed and said they had 66 laps to go.

"Still there, still there. Clear now, clear."

On lap 237, Mikey was 17th. David was 16th, and Marcos was 13th. Cars continued to make stops. Mark Martin led a lap before pitting.

"59. Great lap."

Greg Biffle led before making his stop.

"52. We are not going to short pit, because your lap times are great. But we may get fuel. Keep digging."

"Clear, all clear."

"53."

Bobby Labonte led lap 239. Mikey was 6th, David 5th, and Marcos 3rd.

"59."

Marcos pit on lap 240. David dropped to 6th but was still on track. Mikey was 4th. The top eleven had yet to pit.

"58.

"50."

"Clear, clear."

"56."

"Any kind of caution right now would be hugely beneficial. Let's just ride it out. P4," Ty said.

Matt Kenseth pit on lap 246.

"74.

"68."

On lap 246, Mikey was 3rd. David was 5th, and Marcos was 27th.

"59."

Bobby Labonte gave up the lead to pit on lap 248 after leading nine laps. Newman now led, and Mikey was 2nd. David was 4th, and Marcos was 26th.

"56."

Mikey said they could go with one can of gas, and Bootie agreed.

"We're going to pit in eleven laps," the crew chief added.

"The 17's one back, new tires. Looking inside. Inside. 12's there. Clear the 12. 17's half back. Looking low. Still clear. Inside, inside. 17 to your door. Two back to the 12 and the 47, both on tires. Still down there. Still there. Still clear two back. Two back to the 47. Inside, inside, inside. Inside, the 47. Got the 96 down there with him. Inside inside. 12's trying to come with him as well. 12's trying to get down there as well, he's inside to your bumper. 31, real slow on the bottom, real slow on the bottom. Still there the 12, inside. He's already pitted. To your door. Still there, still there."

"Okay, we're going to pit in four laps. Two tires," Bootie said. "Keep digging, Michael. Four more laps."

"Okay, Michael, this time, this time. 5300 and second gear," Bootie said with 42 laps to go.

Bootie guided the #55 to the pit box.

"It took long for that gas," Mikey commented.

"Yeah, it took ten seconds," Bootie replied.

With 38 laps to go, Newman pit and said he was out of fuel.

"There's rain right off of Turn 3 that's coming pretty quick," Ty said.

Newman needed to be pushed off pit road, and the car wasn't refiring.

Joey Logano now led. The yellow flag waved with 35 laps to go. Mikey was 24th and got the free pass. David was 4th, and Marcos was 22nd.

"Caution's out for rain. Caution's out," Ty said.

"Well, Michael, we knew it was coming."

"What would have been nice is if you knew it was coming you shouldn't have taken all that time on gas." Mikey said he'd wanted to go with the jack.

"You and I are on the same page."

"No, I want to end it here, and then I'll shut up. We are not on the same page." Mikey said he didn't want gas, just tires. "I understand. We don't get it. We don't get it. It's cool."

"No, I understand what you're saying. Yeah, Michael, I'm with you." Bootie said Mikey is the lucky dog and is on the lead lap.

"I know, I know. Don't talk to me anymore."

Ty told Mikey to go around the pace car.

"Fuck you, Ty! You keep your mouth shut. I don't need your shit."

Ty said it was a tough deal and to keep slow in the rain.

"I asked y'all to not talk about it anymore," Mikey said he'd just been trying to help. "Well fuck, we'll just finish where we do. And everybody doesn't need to get bent out of shape. We'll just finish 30th. That's okay."

Bootie said they'd get four tires when pits open.

"We're going to go ahead and pit now, right?" Ty asked.

Bootie confirmed this and said they'd get four tires.

"Sorry I got mad, Ty. Sorry I said that to you," Mikey said. "Everybody sees things differently. I'm sorry I lost my cool." He asked if he was pitting now.

Bootie said he got what Mikey was saying and could understand him losing his cool. "But I promise you we'll be okay."

"I think that my car was the fastest it had ever been all day on those two right there, so I don't know. I'm not 100% for sure I would have made it the whole way, but it was pretty frickin' fast."

"You were pretty fast," Bootie agreed. He said Mikey had two tires and not all that tail weight. "So it ought to haul ass."

"How did the 00 get all the way up to 4th?" Mikey asked.

Ty said the #00 was on fumes.

Bootie said they'd pushed it as far as they could on fuel.

"10-4. I got that," Mikey replied. "I'm tired of talking about gas now. We'll talk about it later. I mean, what are we going to do now?

"It has seemingly stopped raining."

Ty said the cars would come down pit road, and NASCAR didn't think it would take long to dry.

"Yeah, it's already dry on the high groove, and it's not raining, so it's fine I guess. I don't know. Good job on the repairs, dudes. Good job, over the wall dudes. Good job. You fixed it enough to make something of it."

"10-4. You're P23 right now. So hopefully we get back to it, and you can whoop some ass," Bootie said.

"I want David to make the chase really bad, but I want to finish really good too. I guess I don't really know what I want in this life of mine. I want it to seem simpler, but everyone says that."

"Uh huh," a crewmember said.

Bootie said it was a win-win situation whether or not it rains.

"Okay. Thank you, Mr Glass Is Half Full Person. I needed that. I'm just sorry. You and I were having a discussion, and I didn't need someone getting into it." Mikey apologised for cussing everybody out. "I think I really only cussed Ty, and I'm sorry, Ty. I love you."

"Yeah, and I know you're emotionally trying to win this race and you're trying the best you can," Bootie replied. He wanted Mikey to know they all want it and are trying the best they can.

"Okay. I don't want to talk about it anymore, because I'm going to lose my mind, but it's definitely an option we could take. All right, it's raining now, so I think I'll get out. What do you think, Dan?"

"NASCAR says stay in," Dan replied.

The race was called at 5:42pm, and Joey Logano was declared the winner. Mikey finished 24th, David 4th, and Marcos 23rd.

Next week, NASCAR goes to Daytona. Coverage of the Sprint Cup's Coke Zero 400 begins Saturday at 7:30pm ET on TNT. The Nationwide Series' Jalapeno 250 airs the day before at 7:30pm on ESPN.
