Michael Waltrip will start 14th in the Nextel All-Star, tomorrow's non-points event at Lows Motor Speedway. His #55 Napa Auto Parts Dodge was the only one who wasn't from a major multi-car team.
He was the seventh of eighteen drivers to take to the track in qualifying, rolling onto the speedway just before 8:00pm ET. After running two laps, he entered pit road in 10.2 seconds. Brother Darrell in the booth commented that was a good time. He had a 14.2-second stop, but wiggled coming down pit road. He exited at 106 MPH, which was on the slow side. He completed his time trial in 128.547 seconds and was 5th at the time.
Mikey had ranked last in All-Star practice. His 30.843-second lap at 175.080 MPH was 1.312 seconds behind session leader Kasey Kahne.
