DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Michael Waltrip is scheduled to appear on Speed's "NASCAR Live" at noon (EDT) Saturday to make an announcement about the future of his race team.
It's expected that Waltrip will announce that 1999 NASCAR Cup champion Dale Jarrett will become Waltrip's teammate in 2007, when Michael Waltrip Racing will field two full-time Toyota Nextel Cup teams. The move was first reported in NASCAR Scene's May 4 issue.
Jarrett said on May 5 that he hoped to announce his plans within 10 days. His contract with Robert Yates Racing to drive the team's No. 88 Ford expires after this season, and Jarrett has said he hopes to drive through the 2008 season.
