Until Bristol makes a change to the track surface it will be a one-groove track and on a one-groove track you either move the guy or watch the leaders pull away.
But if you're willing to give, you gotta be willing to receive. That being said, guys are still gonna get pissed about it. But that is just the nature of the beast. -- Dalegot7
And that's why it's the toughest ticket in NASCAR. I had a fun debate with Michael Waltrip last weekend on SPEED's Tradin' Paint regarding that which Bristol Motor Speedway truly provides: great event or great racing?
Waltrip said great event. Hard to disagree with a guy that's raced there for 20 years. With 160,000 fans and gripping post race drama, it's quite the spectacle, indeed. But from a fan standpoint, it's also great racing.
Drivers must negotiate traffic throughout the event. We don't see that everywhere. The field doesn't separate. There's no break. It's a test of mental and physical fortitude.
Finishes are invariably scintillating. And unlike some other tracks, green/white/checker finishes aren't required to produce those finishes. That's the kind of racing I enjoy watching.
