Under cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 50s, the green flag flew with Michael Waltrip starting from the 24th position. As it had been during Saturday’s NASCAR Busch Series event, tire wear was a concern for teams with several falling victim to blowouts. Waltrip finished the race in 20th place and gained two positions in the year-end point standings.
Kasey Kahne won the Atlanta event from the pole position.
The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series regulars battle it out next week on the half-mile Bristol Motor Speedway.
