National sports and entertainment celebrities are lining up to take affectionate potshots at NASCAR racing legend and Franklin businessman Darrell Waltrip.
Waltrip will be honored in a celebrity roast at the 17th annual Steak & Burger Dinner, which benefits The Boys & Girls Club of Franklin and Williamson County.
Former NFL star and big-time sports broadcaster Terry Bradshaw is scheduled to join NASCAR legends Rusty Wallace, Michael Waltrip and Ken Schrader, musician T. Graham Brown, NASCAR President Mike Helton and others to "roast" Waltrip.
"I don't understand it, the Multiple Sclerosis Society wanted to honor me and nobody could come," he joked. "But they all line up for the chance to roast me."
Waltrip, who says he has lived in Franklin since "before it was cool" to live in the city, is being honored at the dinner for longtime support of the club.
Denise Carothers, executive director for the club, said Waltrip has been a contributor to the club and its initiatives in the past. He's donated money to help start the club's teen center and was even the guest speaker for a past Steak & Burger dinner.
