Michael Waltrip completed one Busch Series and two Nextel Cup practice sessions today at Daytona International Speedway, in preparation for the Hershey's Kissables 300 and Daytona 500.
Mikey's #55 Napa Auto Parts Dodge ranked 46th of 58 cars in the first practice of the day - the third of the week. His fastest lap of 47.906-seconds at 187.868 MPH was 0.882 seconds behind pace setter Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was 12th of 54 drivers in fourth practice, with a 47.475-second lap at 189.574 MPH. He trailed fastest lap-turner Brian Vickers by 0.529 seconds.
The #99 Aaron's Dream Machine hit the track for the first time yesterday. Mikey was 13th of 48 drivers, turning his fastest lap in 48.611 seconds at 185.143 MPH. He was 0.420 seconds behind chart topper Denny Hamlin.
Mikey will be the second of 49 drivers tomorrow to take to the track to qualify for the Busch Series' Hershey's Kissables 300. He starts 23rd of 29 drivers in the second Gatorade 150, a qualifying race for next week's Daytona 500. Tune in at 2:00pm ET on TNT.
